About Me
My name is Ellen Tveit and I have more than 20 years of experience writing and editing communications in corporate, nonprofit, and higher education settings. In September 2015 I left a full-time job in marketing communications to live in Spain for a year, and that’s when I began working as a freelance content writer, copy editor and translator.
Some of my favorite writing assignments have involved gathering information from subject matter experts or insiders and then translating it in a meaningful way for nonspecialists. I’m energized when I work collaboratively with others and can unite my marketing orientation, natural curiosity, and writing skills to make a positive difference.
My writing and editing expertise is in content marketing, creative nonfiction (blog posts, essays), and business communications (both internal and customer-facing). Topics I’m already familiar with include: medical devices; plants and gardening; cooking; civic engagement; foreign travel and language study; K-12 and higher education; and health and wellness.
I have a B.A. in French and an M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language, both from the University of Minnesota, and I’ve completed advanced editing courses through UCLA Extension and The Poynter Institute. I’m a member of ACES: The Society for Editing.
